“Mom, can you make us some chocolate chip cookies?” I am often asked after dinner.
And then, I look. I have no chocolate chips in my pantry! What is a mom with begging kids to do?
Whip up these quick and yummy cookies my kids love with only 7 ingredients, of course!
These are the perfect after dinner milk and cookie type of treat or the perfect lunchbox companion.
yields about 2 dozen depending on size
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 Tablespoons cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 sticks of butter (room temperature)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Powdered Sugar (for dusting)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- In a mixing bowl, beat butter & sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs & mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl mix all dry ingredients. Slowly add them into the wet ingredients one cup at a time.
- Place tablespoonfuls of dough mixture onto parchment paper (or well greased) cookie sheet.
- Bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Remove from oven, let cool, then dust with powdered sugar.

For those of us in countries where butter does not come in sticks – how much does a stick weigh?
Great question! One stick is half a cup or approx 125grams. :)
