Total Time:40 minutes
Yield:6 servings 1x
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
8 slices thick toast bread, sliced into 3 sticks
Maple syrup, for serving
Preheat oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon, and set aside.
In a 9×9-inch square baking dish or shallow dish, whisk the milk, eggs, and vanilla.
Dip the sliced bread sticks in the egg mixture, turning each stick to soak up enough liquid on each side. Lift to drip out excess liquid and transfer them onto the lined baking pan. Repeat the process with all the bread slices.
Sprinkle the tops of the breadsticks with half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Bake the french toast sticks in the preheated oven for 13 minutes, remove the tray from the oven, turn them over and sprinkle the tops with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Bake for an additional 13 to 15 minutes until the tops are golden and the middles are cooked through.
Dust with a little powdered sugar (optional) and serve with maple syrup.
