2 Ingredient Hot Chocolate

Chocolate chips and milk are all you need to make this delicious cup of silky smooth hot chocolate. Unlike hot cocoa, which uses cocoa powder, sugar, vanilla, and milk this recipe has a more luxurious flavor that’s achieved by melting semi-sweet chocolate chips in warm milk.

It’s the difference between hot chocolate and hot cocoa.

Do You Melt Chocolate Chips Before Adding to the Milk?

It is not necessary to melt the chocolate chips separately before adding them to the milk. However, you can melt the chocolate chips over a water bath and then add them to the warm milk.

How to Make Hot Chocolate Using Chocolate Chips

This simple hot chocolate recipe couldn’t be simpler! I walk you through everything you need to know in this quick recipe video so you can feel confident making your hot chocolate from scratch using chocolate chips!

Some dairy-free alternatives, such as oat milk or soy milk, would make an excellent swap for regular milk.
