Plus, with the tips in this post, you’ll learn how to pack this delicious and filling guacamole and protein bento and keep it fresh for hours!

A bento box filled with deli turkey, sliced cheese, hard-boiled egg, red bell pepper, whole grain crackers, and a sauce cup of guacamole with a side container of grapes.

Protein & Veggie Bento Box

Using a bento-style lunchbox is one of my go-to hacks for packing a healthy school lunch in 5 minutes -especially on those mornings when coffee has yet to kick in.

Like my healthy lunchables, this protein and veggie bento box is a no-cook lunch idea kids love. I added a guacamole single for dipping the veggies, although sometimes I use a small sauce container for condiments with dressing.

A bento box is a cute presentation of kid-favorite snacks and lunch items, and the formula is simple: 1-2 protein options, 1 source of healthy fat, 1 complex carb, and endless amounts of fresh fruit and veggies.

What is in this Guacamole and Protein Bento

In theory, you can create this bento with anything your child loves! For this particular box I chose:

  • Protein: rolled deli turkey and hard-boiled eggs.
  • Veggies: bell peppers or carrots sticks.
  • Fruit: grapes, could also be sliced apple, orange, or berries.
  • Complex carbs: whole grain crackers.
  • Healthy Fats: from the guacamole and cheese.

How to Pack a Guacamole and Protein Bento for School Lunch

Learn how to pack this lunch and other bento boxes, so it stays fresh for hours. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Prep
Wash the fruit and veggies, and slice as needed.
  2. Wet ingredients go together
The fruit, veggies, cheese, and protein can be packed into the same compartments however, they fit best in your compartmentalized lunch container.
  3. Add the dry snacks
Items like crackers and chips must be packed separately from the rest of the ingredients in order to stay crisp.
  4. Prepare for shipment
Close the lunch container and pack it into a lunch bag with an ice pack.

How to pack guacamole for lunch?
Whether you use store-bought guacamole or make your own at home, be sure to pack it separately from the other ingredients. Add the guacamole cup to the lunchbox or pack it in a small lidded container to keep it from tipping over.

Save time
Every ingredient of this bento box can be prepared ahead to save time. Slice the cheese, roll the turkey, cut the bell pepper, and boil the eggs. Meal prep a few lunches so you can grab them from the fridge on busy mornings!

Batch-cook eggs
Eggs are an easy and tasty way to add protein to any meal, including bento lunches! Batch-cook eggs, let them cool down, peel them and store them in the fridge to build more high-protein lunches.
