Breakfast Bento Box with Pancakes

Kids love pancakes, and, of course, parents love them as an easy way to get kids excited about the first meal of the day. Why not take it up a notch and add some fun at lunch? This Pancake Breakfast Bento is sure to do just that!

Using your favorite pancake recipe, add a smear of whipped cream cheese and pack them with your choice of berries. It’s an easy way to add a serving of fruit and get your kids involved making their own lunch. A win for everyone!

This delicious bento is one your kids will want to take for lunch often, so double the recipe and stash the extra in your freezer for easy mornings or pack sweet school lunches.

What is in Pancake Breakfast Bento

This bento box turns everything kids love for breakfast into an easy and irresistible school lunch! Make your favorite pancakes, and it’s almost done! This bento includes:

  • Pancakes: your favorites. Frozen or this Fluffy Pancake Recipe.
  • Berries: blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, what you have works!
  • Whipped cream cheese: delicious creaminess in every bite!

How to Pack Pancake Breakfast Bento For Lunch

Whether you make your own pancakes or use the frozen ones from the store, packing this breakfast bento is super easy, if you follow these simple steps. Here’s how I pack pancakes for lunch:

  1. Prep the pancakes
Prepare your favorite pancake recipe. If using frozen pancakes, you can pack them in the lunch container frozen, they’ll thaw out to room temperature by lunch. Or, lightly microwave them or toast them to bring them to room temperature. Use your favorite recipe or store-bought variety.
  2. Pack the pancakes
Place the pancakes in the main compartment of a bento box.
  3. Add fruits
In a separate compartment, place the berries and any other sides you might want to pack for lunch. Close the lid.
  4. Pack whipped cream
Fill a small dip or sauce container with the whipped cream cheese. Whipped cream cheese is less messy than syrup but syrup also works!

More Tips for Packing the Best Pancake Breakfast Bento

An epic and tasty lunch doesn’t have to be complicated. Follow these tips with swaps, adds-in, and packing hacks for a terrific bento school lunch:

Separate dry from wet ingredients
The #1 hack for packing pancakes for lunch is using a compartmentalized lunchbox to keep pancakes separate from fruit and other sides. Same way, always pack whipped cream cheese or syrups in a small lidded container to prevent any leak.

Add more nutrition
Besides fresh fruit, other delicious ways to add more nutrition to this pancake breakfast bento are packing walnuts, almonds, pecans, coconut flakes, granola, or dried raisins.

Make it dairy-free
If your kid doesn’t consume dairy, make pancakes without milk and swap whipped cream cheese for jelly, syrups, peanut butter, almond butter, or your favorite nut-free butter alternatives.
