This blueberry bread sandwich turns an ordinary baked good into an epic snack you can pack into the lunch bag.

Below I’ll show you how to pack this dreamy blueberry bread sandwich up with mixed fruit so it stays fresh and your kids can enjoy a balanced snack idea.

A blueberry sandwich cut in half and packed into a metal container with mixed fresh berries.

Blueberry & Cream Sandwich Breakfast Bento

Instead of eating blueberry bread by the slice, why not turn it into a delicious sandwich? Just add some whipped cream cheese in between two slices, and voila!

This kind of snack is always a HIT and it’s a fun switch from the usual crackers and cheese. When it comes to filling out the rest of the box, you could add fresh berries for fiber, or choose a protein like Greek yogurt or a hard-boiled egg.

What is a Blueberry Sandwich

Homemade blueberry bread is the key to this sandwich, and it’s a favorite recipe because the bread is super tender and full of fresh berry flavor. The whipped cream cheese makes a light filling and helps hold this sandwich together.

You could certainly recreate this idea with banana bread, pumpkin bread, or your favorite recipe and swap the whipped cream cheese for peanut butter or Nutella.

Banana bread + peanut butter, what an incredible combination that would be!

How to Pack a Blueberry Bread Sandwich for a Snack

Let me show you how to quickly make and pack this blueberry bread sandwich for a snackbox:

  1. Assemble
Cut 1 slice of blueberry bread in half. Spread the whipped cream cheese over 1 half and assemble the sandwich.
  2. Wrap it up
Since blueberry bread is more tender than regular bread, wrapping this sandwich with plastic wrap will help it stay intact until snacktime.
  3. Pack it right
To keep the sandwich from getting smashed and soaking up excess moisture, place it in a compartmentalized container and add the fruit or additional snacks into separate compartments.

Breakfast Bento Packing Tips

Packing this sandwich for a delicious and sweet breakfast that remain fresh is super easy when you follow these tips:

Use the right container
I recommend wrapping this sandwich in plastic wrap since blueberry bread is tender that regular bread. Then, use a hard container to keep it from getting squished in a lunch bag. It will be tasty and intact until it’s time to eat.

Pack sides separately
If you don’t wrap the blueberry bread sandwich with plastic wrap, make sure to keep fruits separate to prevent moisture from reaching the sandwich. This is the best way to keep it dry.

Keep it cool
If you’re making this ahead of time, keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to leave. Add an ice pack to keep everything inside the lunch bag cool and fresh.

Add more nutrition
Including some healthy sides will help bulk up the nutrition of this breakfast; think berries, sliced apples, apple chips, banana chips, or a fruit salad. Sweet, tasty, and nutritious!
