How to pack Chips & Guacamole Bento for lunch
Keeping this epic bento box with chips and guacamole fresh and intact in the lunch bag is possible by packing it correctly.
Here’s how I packed it:
- Pack guacamole
Fill a small lidded dip container with guacamole or pack a single-serve guac inside the main compartment of the bento box. - Add tortilla chips
Place your favorite tortilla chips around the guacamole, in this compartment. The idea is to keep all dry ingredients here so the chips don’t get soggy. - Add veggies separate
Wash and slice fresh veggies –like bell peppers or cherry tomatoes- and place them in another compartment of the lunchbox. - Pack the other ingredients
Place any other ingredients, like cheese cubes or black olives (shown) in a separate compartment or inside a lidded container. - Refrigerate
Close the lid to the bento box and refrigerate until ready to pack inside a lunch bag. This chips and guacamole bento lunch can be assembled the night before.

Tips for packing a perfect bento box for lunch
Want to make this simple bento box for later? No problem. Turn it into a more substantial meal? That too!
Check out these 3 tips:
Swap ingredients
Packing bento boxes is all about building a balanced meal with what you have on hand, so feel free to swap ingredients. Pita chips, all kinds of crackers, and even pretzels are great for dipping. Veggies like celery, carrots, snap peas, or green beans can do the work when there are no bell pepper or cherry tomatoes on hand (or your kid doesn’t like them).
Add more protein
Make a satisfying lunch for bigger appetites by adding a hard-boiled egg. Pack it separated from the chips to prevent them from absorbing moisture.
Add a treat
‘I don’t like treats,’ said no kid ever. Clean treats are a terrific way to add more nutrition to the lunchbox, like these No-Bake Chocolate Energy Balls, these banana chips, or Homemade Fruit Leather.
