Homemade Wrap with Chicken Strips

Crispy chicken strips. Those three magic words make everyone drool, no matter how you serve them. Well, inside a tortilla is by far an epic way, that’s why this crispy chicken wrap is about to become your new favorite school lunch idea!

This recipe is great for repurposing chicken strips leftovers from dinner, whether you use frozen or my Homemade Chicken Strips recipe. With 3 or 4 strips and a few veggies, you can assemble a tasty high-protein lunch that is also easy to wrap the night before to save time. Want to pack one for you too? I’m not going to stop you!

There’s something about hand-held school lunches that no kid can resist. It’s all the fun of eating a taco with the convenience of sandwiches. And if there’s crispy chicken and juicy veggies inside… wow! Yes, the lunchbox will come back home empty!

What goes in Crispy Chicken Wrap

Simple ingredients make an epic school lunch! Check what you need for this delicious crispy chicken wrap:

  • Tortilla: use your favorite to make this wrap.
  • Lettuce leaves: help to keep the wrap from getting soggy.
  • Tomato: a few slices of any tomato you have around.
  • Cooked chicken strips: homemade strips or frozen -even the ones leftover from dinner. Don’t have strips? Make a chicken nugget wrap instead!
  • Ranch dressing: a creamy addition you’ll want to find in every bite!

How to Pack a Crispy Chicken Wrap for School

Do you have 5 minutes? Then you have an epic school lunch waiting to be packed! Here’s how you can easily make this crispy chicken wrap:

  1. Cook the chicken
If you don’t have chicken strip leftovers, you can use frozen chicken strips to make this wrap. All you have to do is follow the cooking instructions on the packaging and once cooked, you can make a wrap to eat right away or pack for lunch.
  2. Make the base
You place the tortilla on a flat surface, add lettuce leaves, and the tomato slices on top. The lettuce acts like a barrier preventing the tortilla from absorbing moisture from the tomato.
  3. Add the chicken
Now, you place the cooked chicken strips on top and drizzle with ranch dressing.
  4. Wrap it!
Fold the sides in and roll the wrap burrito style. Slice the crispy chicken wrap in half and serve, or pack it inside a lunch container.
  5. Pack it for lunch
If packing this wrap the night before, don’t slice it until the same morning you’re going to send it in the lunch bag. Add fresh fruit, veggies, and sides to a separate compartment of the lunchbox. Refrigerate until ready to go.

Should the Chicken Be Hot or Cold for a Crispy Chicken Lunch Wrap

If not packing this wrap for school, you can reheat the chicken tenders in the microwave for about a minute, in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes, or the air fryer at 350F for 6 minutes. This will give you crispy tenders to use in the wrap and enjoy it for lunch at home warm.

If you’re packing this chicken wrap for school, you don’t need to reheat it since it’s a school lunch that kids can enjoy cold.

Watch How It’s Packed:

Ingredients

  • 1 large flour tortilla
  • 2 green lettuce leaves
  • 2 slices tomato
  • 2 chicken strips, cooked
  • 1 tablespoon Ranch dressing

Instructions

Prep:

  • If not packing this wrap for school and you're going to enjoy it right away, you can reheat the chicken tenders in the microwave for about a minute, in the oven at 350F for 10 minutes, or the air fryer at 350F for 6 minutes. This will give you crispy tenders to use in the wrap.

Make the wrap:

  • Place the tortilla on a flat surface. Place the lettuce leaves in the center of the tortilla and place the tomato slices on top. Arrange the cooked chicken strips on top of the tomatoes and drizzle with ranch dressing. Tip: go light on the dressing if you're packing this for school to prevent a soggy wrap. Pack a little extra dressing in a small lidded container for later.
  • Fold the sides in and roll the wrap burrito style. Slice it in half and serve or pack it inside a lunch container.

Pack the rest of the lunch:

  • Add fresh fruit and veggies as sides inside separate lunch containers or compartments of the lunch box.
  • Refrigerate the lunch until you’re ready to pack it inside an insulated bag for school. Include an ice pack if necessary.

I had some chicken strips leftover from dinner, so I tried to find a recipe to use them. This recipe turned out so great I even packed the wraps as an office lunch for myself. Thank you!
