This Italian sandwich wrap has all the flavors of your favorite deli sub, and here, you’ll learn how to make it and pack it for school so it stays fresh until lunchtime.

Packing It for Lunch
- Make the wrap
Lay the tortilla on a flat surface. Layer the ingredients, then lightly drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Fold the wrap tightly, burrito-style. - Keep it fresh
Place the lettuce directly against the tortilla to protect it from the olive oil and other fillings. It creates a barrier that helps keep the tortilla from getting soggy until lunch. You can also fill a small container with Italian dressing and drizzle it when it’s time for lunch. - Pack it for school
Pack the wrap inside a lunch container with fruit and veggies in separate compartments. Refrigerate until you’re ready to place it inside an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack, if needed.

Laura’s School Lunch Packing Tips
Yes. Assemble the wrap the night before, but go light on the oil and vinegar so the tortilla stays fresh, or save that in a dressing container and drizzle it in the wrap at lunch.
A large burrito-size flour tortilla is the easiest to roll tightly and holds all the fillings without tearing.
Absolutely. Lightly toast it in a pan for 2 to 3 minutes per side to crisp the tortilla and melt the cheese. If you do this, skip the lettuce or put it in the middle of the wrap. Eat it immediately or let it cool completely before packing it for school.
More Ways to Make Lunch Easier
If you love wraps, try these other lunch wrap ideas so your tortillas don’t go to waste:
Italian Sandwich Wrap

Ingredients
- 1 tortilla wrap
- 2 slices deli ham
- 2 slices Genoa salami, or pepperoni
- 1 slice provolone cheese, any
- ¼ cup shredded lettuce
- 2 tablespoons sliced banana peppers or pepperoncini
- 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
- ½ teaspoon red wine vinegar
- Pinch Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Make the Wrap
- Lay the tortilla on a flat surface. Layer the salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, red onion, and banana peppers in the center. You can omit the banana peppers and onion. Drizzle with the olive oil and red wine vinegar. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Fold in the sides and roll the tortilla tightly burrito-style.
Pack for Lunch
- Place the wrap inside a lunch container with fruit and veggies packed separately. Refrigerate until ready to pack inside an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack, if needed.
Notes
- You can also use Italian dressing for this wrap instead of olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and Italian seasoning.
- Let the lettuce create a barrier between the tortilla and dressing to help prevent sogginess.
- For a warm wrap, place the lettuce in the middle of the wrap (on top of the meats), and place the cheese next to the tortilla. Wrap it tightly, and toast it in a pan over medium-low heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side.
