Learn how to make a quick and delicious falafel wrap and keep it fresh for hours in a lunch box with the tips in this post!

Tortilla Wrap with Falafels
My teenage daughter has been obsessed with Mediterranean food lately. Lucky for her (and me), I had leftover falafels from dinner so we made this AMAZING tortilla wrap with falafels for a healthy school lunch for her, in less than 5 minutes!
My family devours sandwich wraps so I’m always stocked on tortillas, but if you find yourself out, a vibrant falafel salad is an equally delicious and school-friendly alternative. Or try my gluten-free tortillas-they're light, fresh, and quick to make.
What You Need
What’s awesome about this wrap is how quickly it comes together. Before you check out the recipe card for measurements, here’s what you’ll need:
- Tortilla: a large, soft flour tortilla is key for wrapping everything securely. You can use whole-grain, gluten-free or any other favorite.
- Falafel: use leftover homemade falafels or grab frozen ones for a convenient option.
- Fresh Veggies: crisp lettuce and juicy tomatoes add refreshing crunch and color.
- Hummus: creamy hummus acts as a delicious base and keeps the wrap from feeling dry. You can switch this out for mayo if your kids prefer.
- Tzatziki or Ranch: a light drizzle of tangy and herby tzatziki sauce is optional but elevates each bite. Ranch dressing also works for a more familiar taste.
- Optional add-ons: boost the mediterranean flavor by adding pickled onions, olives or sprinkle on crumbled feta!

How to Make a Falafel Wrap
Here's how to assemble a tortilla wrap that stays fresh and flavorful whether you eat it now or save it until lunchtime:
- Layer the Ingredients
Place the tortilla on a flat surface and spread a little hummus or mayo on the tortilla. This will help hold the lettuce in place. Place the lettuce leaves in the center of the tortilla and place the tomato slices on top. Next, layer the falafel patties on top of the tomatoes. Keeping wetter ingredients in the middle helps prevent a soggy tortilla. - Drizzle the Sauce
Add a light drizzle of tzatziki or ranch over the veggies. Too much can lead to a soggy wrap, so go easy! Extra can be packed separately in a small container. - Wrap It Up
Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly to keep the filling from falling out. - Pack it for school
Slice the wrap in half and pack it in a hard, sandwich-sized container so it doesn’t move around. Pack any lunch sides separately and refrigerate everything until you are ready for school.
How to Wrap It So It Stays Tight
Rolling a falafel wrap is just like making a burrito! Fold the sides in, and then roll from the bottom up while pressing gently and tucking in any loose filling. You can wrap it in foil to keep everything in place until lunchtime. This also makes it easier to hold and eat without having to unwrap it completely.
School Lunch Packing Tips
Ensure your falafel wrap stays fresh and intact until the lunch bell rings with these simple packing tips:
Use a hard container
I recommend packing the falafel wrap snugly in a sandwich-sized, hard container so it won’t slide around or get squished in a backpack.
Keep it chilled
Keep everything crisp and fresh until it’s time to eat by adding an ice pack inside the lunch bag to regulate the temperature.
Pack dressing separately
To avoid a soggy wrap and possible spills, pack the sauce in a small leak-proof container and add it right before eating.
Elevate it with extras
Round out this wrap by adding crunchy homemade crackers or baked banana chips. If prepping this lunch ahead time, wait util the last minute to add dry items.
Keep wet and dry separate
If adding fruit or veggies, keep them in a different compartment or container to prevent moisture from reaching the tortilla and making it soggy.
