Packed with deli turkey and with a zesty mustard kick, these turkey lettuce wraps are perfect for a light lunch or as an addition to a more filling meal!

Below, you’ll learn how to assemble this deli turkey lettuce wrap in just minutes and keep it fresh for hours in a lunchbox!

Turkey Sandwich Lettuce Wrap

My daughter is always coming up with healthy, non-sandwich lunch ideas, and these turkey lettuce wraps are a favorite way to add extra protein to her lighter lunches, like an avocado and tomato salad.

I usually wash lettuce and store it for the week, so she can quickly throw together options like this turkey avocado lettuce wrap or a crispy BLT salad faster than you can say “make one for me too!”

Ingredients

You can assemble these lettuce wraps in minutes using the recipe card below. Here’s a rundown of what I used and why each ingredient works.

  • Lettuce: larger leaves make it easier to wrap; Cobb or Boston Bibb work best since Romaine has stems that don't roll.
  • Lunch meat: this recipe uses deli turkey, but sliced deli chicken and ham are also good choices; opt for low-sodium and nitrate-free if possible.
  • Mustard: (optional) adds extra flavor; any type of mustard can be used or swap it out for your favorite condiment.

How to Make a Lettuce Wrap

You can go ahead and devour these tasty turkey lettuce wraps now or follow these helpful tips to pack them up for school in no time:

  1. Prep the Lettuce
Stack two lettuce leaves on top of each other. This will make a sturdier wrap and keep the rolls from falling apart. If you only have Romaine lettuce, you can use them as cups or lay them flat like I did with these bacon lettuce wraps.
  2. Add a Kick
If you're using mustard, squeeze a fine line of mustard down the center of the leaves.
  3. Build the Wrap
Roll up two slices of deli turkey together and place the turkey roll in the center of the lettuce leaves.
  4. Roll the Wrap
Fold one side of the lettuce over the turkey and roll tightly. Place it fold-side down to prevent the wrap from unrolling.

Keeping Lettuce Wraps Fresh for Lunch at School

Here are some additional tips to keep these wraps fresh if they are heading to school as part of a delicious lunch:

Keep it tight
Layer the lettuce leaves so they're sturdy enough to hold everything in place and avoid tearing.

Choose the right container
Make sure the lettuce wraps fit snugly in a durable lunch container so they don't fall apart or get jostled around in a lunch bag or backpack.

Place them fold-side down
Carefully place each lettuce wrap into the container with the folded-side pointing down. This will ensure the wraps stay intact.

Keep it safe
Keep it chilled with an ice pack, if needed.

What to Pack with Lettuce Sandwich Wraps for Lunch

These healthy and simple turkey lettuce wraps are a great way to introduce fresh ingredients into your lunch routine similar to these bento box lunches. The wraps can also serve as a side to a warm thermos lunch, like mac and cheese or lasagna.

My middle schoolers loved this lettuce wrap. Such a fun way to use up deli meat, especially when they’re sick of the classic sandwich.
