Crispy bacon, lettuce, and tomato rolled into a tortilla make this easy BLT wrap a quick handheld lunch that's easy to pack for school.

If your kids love a classic BLT, wrapping it in a tortilla makes it easier to pack and eat at school. This BLT wrap takes just a few minutes to make, and with the tips here, you'll learn how to roll it tight and keep the tortilla from getting soggy before lunchtime.

BLT Wrap for Lunch

My kids have always loved a classic BLT sandwich (even on a bagel), but my teens prefer it wrapped in a tortilla. It’s easier to eat, there’s less chance of everything falling out, and unlike a BLT salad, there are no utensils to remember. This is one of those wrap recipes for lunch that works especially well when you already have cooked bacon in the fridge. Assemble, roll, and lunch is done.

How to Make It

  1. Cook the bacon
Cook the bacon until crispy, then chop it into bite-sized pieces. You can do this ahead and refrigerate it or cook it in the microwave in 2 minutes.
  2. Assemble
The trick with a BLT wrap isn’t making the filling; it’s layering and rolling everything so the tortilla holds together and doesn’t get soggy when you’re packing it for later. Place the tomato on top of the lettuce to prevent its moisture from soaking into the tortilla.
  3. Roll
Fold the sides inward, bring the bottom of the tortilla over the filling, and roll tightly while tucking everything in as you go. Watch the video below to see how it’s done.
  1. Pack for lunch
Place the wrap snugly inside a lunch container and refrigerate until it’s time to pack the lunch bag with an ice pack. If you’re making it ahead, wait until morning to slice it in half.

Laura’s Tips for Packing a BLT Wrap

How do you keep a BLT wrap from getting soggy?

The tomato is the ingredient most likely to make the tortilla soggy, so don’t place it directly against the tortilla. Layer the lettuce first and put the tomato on top. Also, use only a thin layer of mayo or Ranch rather than loading the wrap with dressing.

Can you make BLT wraps ahead of time?

Yes, but I prefer to prep the bacon ahead and assemble the wrap the night before or the morning you’re packing it. If you make it the night before, refrigerate it in a sturdy container and wait until morning to slice it in half.

How do you keep a BLT wrap from falling apart?

Don’t overfill it. Keep the ingredients toward the center, fold both sides inward, and roll tightly while tucking the filling into the tortilla. Then pack the wrap snugly in a lunch container so it can’t unroll inside the lunch bag.

How do you keep a BLT wrap fresh for lunch?

Keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to leave and pack it in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack. This keeps the bacon, lettuce, and tomato cool until lunchtime.

What can I pack with a BLT wrap?

Fresh fruit and crunchy veggies are easy sides for a BLT wrap. You can also add banana chips, Ranch dip in a small container, or a homemade fruit cup. Pack wet sides in separate compartments so they don’t add moisture to the wrap.

Watch How It’s Made:

Ingredients

  • 1 large tortilla
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise or Ranch dressing
  • 2 slices bacon, cooked crispy
  • 2 slices of tomato, halved
  • Lettuce leaves, washed

Instructions

Make the wrap:

  • Cook the bacon in the microwave until crispy. Pat dry with a paper towel to absorb excess fat. Coarsely chop the cooked bacon into pieces.
  • Place the tortilla on a flat surface. Spread the mayonnaise or Ranch dressing in a thin layer on the tortilla. In the center of the tortilla, layer the lettuce, tomatoes, and chopped bacon.
  • Fold and roll burrito style and slice in half.

Pack it for lunch:

  • Place the BLT wrap in a lunch container where it fits snugly. Pack any sides, like fruits and veggies, in a separate compartment or container. Refrigerate until ready to pack inside a lunch bag, with or without an ice pack.
