This healthy no-cook grape and cheese bento box is like enjoying an appetizer board but for school lunch!

Easy Bento Box Lunch with Grapes & Cheese
We all want our kids to eat more fruits and veggies, so this bento snack box idea is it! Kids have fun eating juicy, sweet grapes, but waaaaay better! Add apples or any other fruit or vegetable they love, and it couldn’t be any healthier! This also makes a great field trip lunch!
But it’s not a real appetizer board-like lunch without cheese! Any cheese you got on hand fills hungry bellies. For more nutrition, almonds are a great addition. If your child doesn’t like nuts or has an allergy, you can add a hard-boiled egg for a terrific protein input.
This, of course, is the perfect bento lunch add-on to pair with a sandwich or a warm thermos lunch for a healthy school lunch!
What is in This Grape & Cheese School Lunch Idea
Build this easy and healthy bento lunch with grapes, cheese, and other wholesome ingredients. You’ll find the amounts in the recipe card below.
- Grapes: a sweet and nutritious fruit that kids love eating!
- Apple slices: you can swap it for your child’s favorite fruit or veggie.
- Cheese: Cheddar, Mozzarella, Brie, or any other; what you have on hand works!
- Almonds: nuts are great, but you can include a hard-boiled egg instead to add protein.
How to pack Grape & Cheese Bento for lunch
Pack ingredients correctly, and this healthy bento box lunch will keep fresh until lunchtime. Here is how I packed this lunch:
- Prep the fruit
Wash the grapes and remove them from the vine if desired. Place the grapes in the largest compartment of the lunchbox. Cut the apple into slices and pack them along with the grapes. - Add the cheese
Place the cubed cheese in another compartment. - Add the almonds
Place the almonds in the smallest compartment of the lunchbox or swap for a hard-boiled egg for more protein.
Save (even more) time
This 5-minute lunch idea can be even more convenient if you assemble ingredients ahead. Place grapes, cheese, and almonds on bento boxes following the instructions above, so you’ll only have to slice an apple at the very last minute.
How to prevent apples from browning
Apples can be sliced last minute or sent in a separate container to prevent apples from browning. To prevent this, most store-bought sliced apples have been soaked in a natural citric acid solution.
Build high-protein lunches
You can turn this bento box lunch into a high-protein one by swapping apples for eggs. Batch-cook eggs and store them in the fridge to add to your bento boxes, salads, and more! You could also up the protein by adding some meat to the bento like I did in this Salami and Cheese Bento Lunch.
