Whether it’s a slice from brunch or a mini quiche you baked ahead, it packs up beautifully for a simple, satisfying school lunch.

Leftover quiche is a ready-made lunch just waiting to happen-no reheating required! Learn how to keep it fresh, delicious, and totally lunchbox-friendly with the tips in this post!

Leftover Quiche School Lunch Idea

Confession: not everyone in my family is on board with quiche, but my daughter and I love it, so yep, I'm going to keep making it! Luckily, I know how to pack those extra slices hanging around so they hold up like a champ in a lunchbox.

Whether it’s a slice from last night’s dinner or treats like these crustless quiche muffins or cheese & salsa mini quiches, leftover quiche might just be your new favorite filling school lunch idea.

What You Need

Quiche is already packed with protein and flavor, making it a fantastic all-in-one school lunch so all you need to add are your favorite extras! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Leftover quiche: any kind works! Just cut it into a lunchbox-friendly portion.
  • Sides: think fresh fruit, crunchy veggies, or even a small salad to round out the meal.

How to Pack Leftover Quiche in a Lunchbox

I’m convinced this is one of the easiest leftover lunch ideas to pack for school. And quiche tastes great at room temperature so there’s no reheating stress!

  1. Pack the quiche
If your quiche is warm, let it cool completely before placing it in a hard, lunch container. This prevents condensation from making it soggy.
  2. Add sides
If your lunch container has compartments, you can pack healthy sides like crisp fruits and veggies in the other compartments to keep everything separate and fresh. Otherwise, pack the sides in a different container to avoid flavors mixing.
  3. Pack it for school
If you’re making this ahead of time, keep the lunch container refrigerated until ready for school, then place everything inside an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack.

How to Keep Leftovers Fresh for School Lunch

While quiche tastes great fresh out of the oven, it also happens to be a crave-worthy school lunch when packed the right way!

Use the right container
Make sure to use a solid lunchbox to prevent ingredients from getting squished and keep everything fresh.

Keep it safe to eat
An ice pack is the best way to pack foods like eggs and cheese that can spoil quickly. You don’t want to skip this step!

Cool the quiche
Let the quiche cool completely before packing so steam doesn’t build up and result in a soggy lunch.

Pack it snugly
Cut your slice of quiche to about the same size as the lunch container. A full compartment means it won’t shift around and make a mess.

More School Lunch Ideas with Leftovers

Turn more leftovers into lunchbox winners! Leftover pizza holds up great in a lunchbox, while this rotisserie chicken wrap is quick and simple! Even extra pasta makes an amazing pasta salad with a quick toss of olive oil and veggies!
