Turkey, crispy bacon, cheese, lettuce, and tomato make this easy wrap a filling, high-protein lunch that's ready in just a few minutes.

This turkey bacon wrap is one of those filling school lunches that’s easy to make in just a few minutes. Here, I’ll show you how I layer it so the tortilla doesn’t get soggy and how to pack it so everything stays fresh until lunchtime.

Turkey Bacon Wrap for Lunch

Anytime I pack a lunch with bacon, the lunchbox comes home empty and I especially like wraps because they’re a filling lunch for school that holds my son over until he gets home. I’ve packed many lunch wraps over the years and below I share my tips for layering so the ingredients inside don’t make the tortilla soggy.

Packing It for Lunch

  1. Cook the bacon
Cook the bacon until crispy and let it cool. I usually microwave bacon when I want it done quickly, then chop it into bite-size pieces.
  2. Layer the ingredients and roll
Spread a thin layer of mayo or Ranch over the tortilla. Place the lettuce in the center, followed by the tomato, bacon, turkey, and cheese. Fold in the sides and roll tightly like a burrito.
  3. Pack for lunch
Place the wrap snugly inside a lunch container and refrigerate until you’re ready to pack it. Keep any lunch sides separate and use an ice pack to keep everything chilled.

Laura’s School Lunch Packing Tips

How do you keep the wrap from getting soggy?

Use the lettuce as a barrier between the tortilla and tomato, and don’t use too much mayo or Ranch. Keeping the wetter ingredients toward the middle makes a big difference after a few hours in the lunchbox.

Should I cut the wrap before packing it?

You don’t have to. I prefer leaving it whole because the fillings stay tucked inside better. If it’s easier to eat cut in half, slice it right before you pack the lunch.

How do you keep the bacon crispy?

Let the bacon cool before adding it and keep it away from the tomato as much as possible. Chopping it into pieces, like bacon bits, also makes it easier to spread throughout the wrap without needing as much bacon.

Does it need an ice pack?

Yes. Turkey and cheese need to stay chilled, so refrigerate the wrap until you’re ready to pack it and put an ice pack in the insulated lunch bag.
