Easy Turkey Pita School Lunch
Pita rounds are an excellent lunchbox accessory because they can be used to make this turkey sandwich variation or sliced and served with hummus and other snacks in a Mediterranean Bento.
For this idea, we’re filling the pita full of fresh ingredients like deli meat, veggies, and cheese- it’s a super satiating idea for growing kids and easy to assemble with their favorite ingredients.
No matter how you pack it, having a compartmentalized lunch container like this one is perfect for keeping the pita bread fresh since it will be separated from wet ingredients (fruit, veggies, and sauces).

School Lunch Packing Tips for Pita Sandwiches
Now that you have an epic pita sandwich for lunch, follow these packing tips so it stays fresh for hours:
Use the right container
Even my older kids accidentally shake up their lunch bags throughout the day. A zip bag just won’t prevent everything from getting squished. Instead, pack this sandwich in a sturdy container to keep everything intact.
Prevent the pita from getting soggy
Lettuce keeps the pita from getting soggy, so place the leaves next to the pita so that wet ingredients, like tomato and cucumber, don’t add moisture to the pita.
Keep it cool
Placing an ice pack inside the lunch bag helps maintain the temperature inside to keep the food fresh until it’s time to eat.
Extra energy
Older kids need more food to stay full so I like to add snacks that will keep them satisfied. These no-bake oatmeal energy balls or wheat thins are always a winner! And this chocolate avocado pudding is a nutritious dessert no kid (or adult) can resist!
