Healthy Curried Chicken Salad Wrap

Making a healthy hand-held school lunch in 5 minutes is super simple with this tasty Curried Chicken Salad Wrap recipe. You only need ½ cup of chicken leftovers shredded or chopped, mix it up to get a creamy salad, and wrap it all inside a tortilla.

Kids will enjoy flavorful chicken in every bite! With this recipe, you don’t have to worry about the curry being too spicy; we’ve reduced the amount and added the classic grapes into the salad, whose sweetness balances out the curry spices.

Plus, you’re packing a quick school lunch that’s also filling and high-protein! This wrap is healthier when using plain Greek yogurt to make the curried chicken salad instead of the traditional mayonnaise or sour cream.

What is in Curried Chicken Salad Wrap

This high-protein Curried Chicken Salad Wrap is one you can easily make with leftovers, one large tortilla, and a few extra ingredients that add tons of delicious flavors and textures. This lunch wrap includes:

  • Plain Greek yogurt: adds protein and makes chicken salad healthier than traditional mayonnaise or sour cream.
  • Curry powder: adds tons of flavor to this wrap.
  • Cooked chicken: finely chopped or shredded. You can use chicken breast, chicken thighs, or rotisserie chicken.
  • Grapes: add sweetness to balance out the curry spices.
  • Lettuce leaves: help to hold the filling.
  • Tortilla: there’s no wrap without it!
  • Fruit and veggies: your kid’s favorite fruits and veggies to pack on the side.

You’ll find the measurements in the recipe card below.

How to Pack Curried Chicken Salad Wrap for Lunch

Use up your chicken leftovers from dinner and make this epic wrap for lunch by simply mixing ingredients and wrapping up! Follow the packing tips, and it will stay intact until lunchtime. Here’s the step-by-step:

  1. Make the chicken salad
In a medium bowl, combine the plain Greek yogurt with the curry powder. Add the chopped or shredded cooked chicken to the mixture and mix it until all the chicken has been coated well. Add the sliced grapes to the chicken salad and mix.
  2. Prep the base
Place the tortilla on a flat surface and layer a couple of lettuce leaves on top.
  3. Add the filling
Scoop the curried chicken salad on top of the lettuce, placing it in the middle of the tortilla.
  4. Wrap it!
Fold in the two sides and then one end over the chicken salad, rolling it tightly into a wrap. Slice in half.
  5. Pack it for lunch
Place the chicken wrap inside the main compartment of a lunchbox along with some fruit and veggies. Cover with the lid and refrigerate until ready to pack inside a lunch bag with or without an ice pack.

Tips for Packing Perfect Wraps for Lunch

Wraps are perfect for packing tons of nutrition and flavor in a way kids enjoy eating. With these tips, you can pull together epic chicken wraps for school every single time:

Save time
Shredding chicken leftovers ahead or chopping them in small pieces with a knife is a great way to save yourself time when prepping school lunches. You can use them for wraps, salads, chicken soups, and so much more!

Prevent wrap from drying out
If using gluten-free tortillas, cover the chicken wrap with a damp paper towel and refrigerate it. These tortillas tend to dry out quicker than traditional ones.

Use a sturdy container
You don’t want this epic wrap ends up flattened in the lunch bag! This won’t happen if you pack it in a firm container (instead of zip bag). In this post, you’ll find the best lunch containers.

Separate wet from dry ingredients
Place this wrap in the main compartment of the lunchbox and keep fruits, veggies, cheese, snacks, and other “wet” ingredients in a separate compartment so everything stays intact hours later.

Add more nutrition
Fruits and veggies always make a great addition to any lunchbox. If there are active kids at home, you can build an even more satisfying meal by packing this Curried Chicken Salad Wrap along with these No-Bake Chocolate Energy Balls or these Oatmeal Energy Bites. A healthy school dessert is an excellent option too!
