This simple step will give the sandwich some texture inside of the lunchbox and help prevent sogginess. - Assemble the sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on 1 slice, then place the lettuce, ham, and cheese, and top with the remaining slice. Make sure any wet ingredients are in the middle so your bread doesn’t get wet. - Pack it in the lunch bag

Packing a Toasted Sandwich for School Lunches
Packing a toasty sandwich for lunch is as simple as this! Now check out these hacks to keep it fresh until it’s time for your kids to enjoy:
Use a sturdy lunch box
The best way to keep sandwiches from getting squished or flattened in the lunch bag is to pack them in a hard, sandwich-sized container.
These are my top picks for school lunch boxes!
Keep Wet Ingredients Separate
Pack fruits, veggies, and other wet foods in their own compartment, so the bread is perfectly crisp and toasty until lunchtime.
Add more nutrition
This sandwich pairs well with fruits and veggies! Some tasty sides include cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, bell pepper strips, sliced cucumber, berries, apple chips, or a fruit salad.
Use a container that fits well
Kids are known for being rough with their sandwiches. By picking a container that doesn’t leave excess room, their ingredients will stay intact by lunchtime.
