Need to send a separate snack to school? These kindergarten snack ideas are easy to pack, simple for young kids to eat on their own, and made with foods that can hold them over until their next meal.
You'll find fruit, homemade bars, snack boxes, crackers, roll-ups, and other school snacks you can prep ahead or pack quickly in the morning.

How Much Snack Should I Pack?
For kindergarteners, I recommend keeping the portions small enough to eat during a short snack break. One main snack plus a small side is usually plenty, such as cheese and fruit, a homemade bar and berries, or crackers with a little protein. If your child has both morning and afternoon snacks, pack them separately so it's clear which one is for each break.
Best Snack Containers for Kindergarteners
Kindergarten snacks usually need a smaller container than lunch. I like reusable snack bags for dry foods, a small divided container for fruit and several bite-size foods, or a compact stainless container for snacks that need more protection in the backpack. Whatever you use, make sure your child can open and close it independently before sending it to school.
