Laura’s Teen Lunch Packing Tips
Avocado is easy to pack, but keeping it fresh and choosing a lunchbox that holds enough food makes a big difference for teens. These are the two things I pay attention to most.
If you’re making a salad, I recommend adding the avocado the same morning you’ll send it to school. In a sandwich or wrap, the avocado has less contact with air, so it won’t brown as quickly. You can also squeeze a little lemon juice over the avocado to help slow browning.
The best lunchbox is one that fits your teen’s appetite, schedule, and the types of foods they like to pack. Here you can see my top teen-approved lunch boxes.
How to Make a Teen Lunch More Filling
Avocado adds healthy fats, but teens with bigger appetites usually need protein and enough total food too. Add hard-boiled eggs, leftover chicken, cheese, deli meat, Greek yogurt, beans, or one of these easy school lunch sides to turn a lighter meal into a more substantial lunch.
