More Tips for Packing Egg Salad Bento Box
You can pull together perfect bento boxes every time by following these packing tips:
Separate wet from dry ingredients
A kid’s bento box container with lots of compartments is your best ally when packing lunches. Pack wet ingredients like egg salad and turkey separate from the crunchy ones, like pita wedges or any other chip. Since this salad has a dressing, packing it separately from the turkey will help keep everything intact until lunchtime.
Keep egg salad cool & safe to eat
Many parents worry about sending egg salad for lunch during warm months. Two ways to pack it safely are by packing it separately in a thermos container or, simply including an ice pack in the lunch bag to keep the entire lunch cool for hours.
Meal prep
This egg salad without mayo stays fresh in the fridge for up to 4 days. Meaning: you can make a batch of mayo-free egg salad and use it to make this bento, fill sandwiches or wraps, build healthy snacks, or stuff tomatoes! Plus, you can pack bentos with egg salad and pita ahead, and you’ll get great lunches ready to grab and go!
Add veggies and fruits
Pack veggies or fruits as a side to make this bento box even more nutritious. Easy ideas? Grapes, sliced cucumber, bell pepper strips, celery sticks, berries, orange slices, tangerine segments, etc. If it’s easy to grab and eat while kids are chatting with friends, add it!
Pack snacks or desserts
For bigger appetites, pack this bento along with your kid’s favorite snacks, like these No-Bake Chocolate Balls or these Banana Chips. A Blueberry Yogurt Parfait or this Homemade Fruit Cup are also delicious and healthy sides kids will enjoy eating.
