small valentine's day treats for school

Pretzel Hearts for School Valentine’s Day Parties

School Valentine's Day parties call for a festive treat, and these pretzel hearts are THE cutest! My youngest has a blast helping me line up the pretzels and adding the hearts. It's quick, easy, and makes enough to share with the whole class.

If there's one thing my kids agree on, it's that sweet and salty is always a win! If you have extra pretzels, you’ll love these cinnamon pretzel bites. Or try a peanut butter & jelly grilled cheese sandwich-it's surprisingly amazing!

Ingredients

Three ingredients are all you need to pull off these crafty Valentine’s Day treats:

  • Mini pretzel twists: crunchy, salty, and ready to be transformed into adorable hearts.
  • White chocolate chips: adds a rich, sweetness to balance the pretzels’ saltiness. You can also use regular chocolate chips, if preferred.
  • Conversation hearts: for a playful, festive way to make the pretzel hearts even more cheerful and Valentine's Day-ready! Did I mention it’s a great way to use up the mountain of candy hearts that you end up with every Valentine’s?

How to Make Valentine’s Day Chocolate Pretzels

Making these chocolate pretzel hearts is super easy and a terrific Valentine’s day activity to do with your kids. They can make them start to finish, with very little supervision on your part. You’ll probably need to melt the chocolate and bag it, but from there, you can sit back and watch.

  1. Prepare
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Evenly space the pretzels on the baking sheet.
  2. Melt
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips. Transfer melted chocolate to a zip bag, cutting a small hole in the tip of the bag.
  3. Pipe
Pipe a small amount of chocolate onto each pretzel. Add a conversation heart in the center and repeat with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Chill
Refrigerate the pretzels for 30 minutes or until set. Store in an airtight container or bag into gift baggies for that class.

Check out how easy these are to assemble in the video below:

More Lunchbox Treats

Healthy treats can be just as tasty as store-bought! Try homemade fruit roll-ups with real fruit, baked banana chips for some crunch, or yummy chocolate-covered apple slices. Little extras like these make lunchboxes way more exciting!
