Loaded with vibrant veggies, this 5-minute ham and cheese wrap is a lunchtime lifesaver!

Below, you’ll learn all my tips for packing this ham and veggie wrap inside a lunch box and keeping it fresh until it’s ready to dive in!

Ham Sandwich Wrap with Veggies

Roll it in a tortilla, and my youngest will eat it-that's basically my motto at this point. Thankfully, I've mastered the science of a great wrap! This ham sandwich wrap with veggies is fresh, easy, and a colorful way to make lunch more exciting!

And if you’re swimming in leftover ham like I am, this melty ham and cheese panini and ham and tomato croissant sandwich are just the thing to shake up your school lunch lineup! Drowning in leftover veggies? Try a grilled vegetable sandwich instead. Just 5 minutes is all you need for all of these delicious lunch ideas!

Ingredients

Fresh veggies plus savory ham and cheese! The best part? It’s easy to swap out ingredients so even picky eaters come home with an empty lunchbox!

  • Tortilla: regular, whole-wheat or flavored. Anything goes as long as it’s big enough to hold all those delicious fillings!
  • Lettuce: leafy greens like bib or spinach add nutrition plus act as a barrier to keep the wrap from getting soggy. Win!
  • Diced tomatoes: for freshness and juicy flavor.
  • Corn kernels: sweet and tender! Roasted red peppers and shredded carrots are great swaps that keep colors vibrant in this wrap.
  • Deli ham: ham and cheese is a classic combo, but any deli meat will work perfectly. Opt for nitrate-free if possible.
  • Sliced cheese: Although most cheeses would be a winner here, I like American or cheddar for their soft melty bite.
  • Condiments: A drizzle of mayo, homemade ranch, or honey mustard ties all the flavors together.

How to Make a Ham Veggie Wrap for School Lunch

Making sandwich wraps is as simple as filling and rolling! Here's the best way to assemble your ham and veggie wrap so it stays fresh until lunch:

  1. Prep your tortilla
Lay your tortilla flat and spread a thin layer of your favorite condiment, like ranch or mayo. This will act like a “glue” to hold the lettuce in place.
  2. Layer Strategically
Place the spinach or lettuce first as the base layer to keep moisture from wetter ingredients from reaching the tortilla and making it soggy. Next, add the diced tomato and corn kernels. Layer the ham slices and cheese to help hold the veggies in place. Drizzle a bit more dressing if desired, and pack any extra in a small container to be packed separately.
  3. Roll it
Fold in the sides and roll tightly burrito-style to keep everything snug.
  4. Pack it for school
Slice ham and veggie wrap in half and place in a hard, sandwich-sized container and refrigerate until ready to leave. Keep healthy sides separate.

Wrap It Tight

Nothing ruins lunchtime like a wrap that falls apart! The trick is a tight roll. Avoid overfilling (tempting, I know) and stick to a soft tortilla. Fold in the two sides first and then one end over the fillings, rolling it tightly while tucking, if necessary.

Keep the Wrap Fresh until Lunch at School

Keep your school sandwich wraps fresh and intact for hours with these additional tips:

Prep ahead
If you make this ham and veggie wrap ahead, prevent the tortilla from drying out by placing a moist paper towel over the wrap and refrigerating it-especially if you’re using gluten-free tortillas, as they tend to dry out faster.

Use a sturdy container
Now that you have this amazing wrap, keep it from getting squished in the lunch bag by packing it in a hard, sandwich-sized container.

Keep it safe to eat
Add an ice pack to regulate the temperature inside the lunch bag and keep everything cool and fresh until it’s ready to eat.

Pack Dressings Separately
Dressings and condiments can make a soggy mess if you add too much. Pack extra in a small leak-proof container and drizzle it on right before eating.

Pack Sides Separately
Keep fruits and veggies separate to prevent moisture from wet ingredients from reaching the wrap. This will also help produce stay crisp and fresh.

More School Lunch Wraps

If you love this veggie wrap, I’ve got oodles of healthy wraps to keep things fresh, like a turkey avocado lettuce wrap, a tangy grilled BBQ chicken wrap, or a zesty chicken caesar lunch wrap! All easy to eat and guaranteed to wow at lunchtime!
