Teens are hungry all the time, especially after school, between activities, or when lunch wasn't quite enough. Good snacks for teens need to be filling, easy to make, and substantial enough for bigger appetites.

Here, you'll find protein-packed snack boxes, homemade bars, fruit and veggie snacks, and easy recipes teens can make themselves or pack for school.

Snack Ideas for Teens

Laura Fuentes holding a stack of lunchboxes and a school lunch bag

With my own teens, I've learned that a snack usually needs to be more substantial than a piece of fruit or a single-serve packaged snack. I look for options with protein, fiber, or enough food to actually hold them over until the next meal.

The ideas below include homemade snacks, snack boxes, and easy options teens can make themselves. If you'd rather buy something ready to go, these are my popular snacks for teens, and many of these ideas also work well alongside a teen lunch.

High-Protein Snacks for Teens

When teens need something that will actually hold them over, adding protein helps turn a small snack into something more satisfying. These are especially useful after school, before practice, or between lunch and dinner.
